know how
  Il significato letterale di know how è '' sapere come '' e viene tradotto in Italiano con '' conoscenza, capacità ed abilità '' accumulate da una persona, da un'impresa, da un Paese. In campo economico cedere know-how significa '' vendere '' conoscenze, competenze tecnico - scientifiche nonché esperienza, in modo tale da far funzionare al meglio un nuovo impianto o un processo produttivo o un'impresa. L'addestramento e l'aggiornamento del personale comprende il trasferimento di know how per migliorare le performance aziendali. Sono know-how quindi i pareri e le consulenze tecniche e/o scientifiche fornite da liberi professionisti. Nelle imprese, tra le attività di bilancio, può figurare la voce know-how dove si identifica quella parte di capitale investito in attività di ricerca e sviluppo ( a valore stimato se tale attività è svolta all'interno dell'azienda con proprio personale e propri mezzi ), oppure costo per l'acquisizione di conoscenze esterne ( misurato dalla somma spesa per ottenerle ).
